Volunteer at The Generator

Third Thursday: Open Studios

Volunteer with The Generator at our monthly event!

Say goodbye to Art on Tap and get ready for Third Thursday Open Studios at The Generator! (But for real, where have the taps been?!)

Thursday, May 16, 2024 5pm-8pm

Third Thursday: Open Studios is a monthly event hosted by The Reno Generator, where local artists can get together to sell, share and showcase their art! We open up our makerspace, to allow room for anyone in the community to partake in this event, as long as they're selling handmade goods!
In the two months we have hosted this event, we have facilitated over 90 local artists!

Build up your confidence in using our sales processing system, square, by taking a volunteer orientation. During the event, staff may not have time to help someone new to the system. If none of the orientation timeslots below work for you, reach out to Ciana@TheRenoGenerator.com to set a different time for training.

Signup for orientation:

Please check your emails for information on volunteering!

Thank you!

Help us continue to grow this event and make an impact on the local art scene by volunteering your time to help in one of the following areas:

  • Payment Station: The Generator has to run every transaction, cash and card, for everything sold at this event. Our payment stations will also have a small selection of Generator merch available for purchase.
Due to that, our payment stations could use help! Transactions are all processed through square terminals; build up your confidence to help in this area by taking a volunteer training orientation!

  • Door Greeter: It's important to ensure the community feels welcomed when coming in to shop at The Generator! A door greeter would help to greet those coming in, engage in conversation about the event/The Generator, share info on payment stations, restrooms, etc.

  • Bartender/Barback: The Generator is a licensed caberta bar! Sling some drinks, engage in fun conversation, check ID's, process payments through square and restock the bar fridge as needed! This is a volunteer position, build up your confidence to help in this area by taking a volunteer training orientation!

  • Vendor Check-in: The Generator can hold a lot of vendors at this event! Help out by being at the vendor check-in booth, where you will use a premade spreadsheet to check-in vendors, assign booth numbers, give out vendor information sheets/receipt books, and lead them to check in with our facilities team to get placed. Vendor check-in starts at 3pm, so this volunteer opportunity is BEFORE the event starts.

  • Event Clean-up: After the event ends, The Generator will need some assistance cleaning up. This will consist of walking around the space, picking up trash that didn't make its way to trash cans. Some small resetting of events spaces (tables getting moved, merch getting repacked into totes)
